The Artist
Njordlyd, the creator of experimental, dark, and industrial ambient soundscapes, invites you into a world where music transcends mere listening. In this sonic realm, each composition is more than a track; it's a dynamic journey. Like chapters in an ever-growing sonic narrative, every release unfolds a new dimension, inviting you to immerse yourself in the evolving tapestry of Njordlyd's musical exploration.
"When creating music, I let the sounds, ideas, mood, and current inspiration control me until a certain point, where it all turns, and I naturally take over the control."

The Music
"creating music is when I feel I am who I am and where I can be who I am"
Njordlyd has been active in electronic music projects, collaborations, and releases since 1991. Over time, the project has developed a distinct sonic language rooted in minimalism, atmosphere, repetition, and slow transformation.
The Njordlyd project officially began in November 2014, followed by the release of Silent Echoes (EP) in 2015 and the 2-track single Ghost Running in 2017. In 2021, a three-year artistic plan was set in motion, unfolding through a series of singles, EPs, and albums including Circles, Subconsciously, Perception, Voices, Clouds, Interlaced, Getting Closer, Correlations, Adrift, With Time, The Absence of Noise, Pathfinder, and The Diffused Thoughts Collection.
Most recently, Njordlyd released When All Else Falls, a one-hour live recording captured in a single uninterrupted take and presented in eight parts under the individual title When All Else Falls Away. The work reflects a continued interest in hypnotic, percussive ambient music shaped by focus, presence, and gradual change.

The Name
The name Njord is a personal choice, derived from a liking for the Norse god associated with the sea, sailing, fishing, and fertility. The addition of "lyd," meaning sound, transforms Njord into a pseudonym that reflects my connection to music—a representation of my distinctive sonic identity.
The Inspiration
Musical inspiration flows from a diverse spectrum, drawing from the likes of Future Sound of London, Biosphere, Burial, Mount Shrine, Brian Eno, Harold Budd, Massive Attack, Portishead, and Marconi Union.
