Themes of travel and journey feature heavily here in these two new works from the Danish musician and producer njordlyd. “Repressed” features processed field recordings of trains - the grinding of metal on metal - to create eerie fields of sound that burst with moments of static pulse and electronic chatter. “Dark Ride” takes this concept into a slightly darker direction - electronics and drones this time are a bit more closer to the red and a bit more introverted and dark. It’s an intense and gripping journey here, one characterized by foot travel - the irregular cadence of something laboring over uneven terrain. Both tracks are welcome additions to njordlyd’s growing canon of excellent ambient work.
