When All Else Falls Away, Part One is the first track from the album "When All Else Falls". The visual for "When All Else Falls Away, Part One" (first track on the album) presents an abstract field of layered rectangular shapes, arranged in a fixed composition. Over time, the shapes move subtly as texture and tone drift across the surface. The result is a slow, hypnotic transformation in which the image remains, while its presence gradually changes, mirroring the subtle movements within the music.

The album carries the title When All Else Falls, while the individual parts are called When All Else Falls Away. Together, they reflect two perspectives on the same work. The album title suggests a threshold or turning point — a moment where something gives way. The titles of the separate parts point more toward process: something gradual, unfolding, and inevitable, where things dissolve over time. That distinction felt right for this recording, which moves as one slow, hypnotic, continuous session, while each part inhabits a smaller stretch of that same falling away.
When All Else Falls Away is a session recorded live in May 2020. It was captured in a single take and mixed in real time. Nothing was reconstructed afterwards — only mastered. The full session is presented in eight parts, while remaining one continuous piece. When All Else Falls (final album title) is an hour-long live recording built from a single moment of focus — a space where everything else disappears, and only the act of listening remains. Stay tuned for more information soon.

One Path Fades And Another Begins: "Further Still" closes The Diffused Thoughts Collection, not as an ending, but as a quiet step into whatever comes next. It marks the point where one path fades and another begins - perhaps in a new shape, tempo, or priority. A soft indication that the journey continues beyond this point, though with the question: how and what? As a visual "Further Still" unfolds through shifting fragments - abstract forms drifting upward, breaking apart, and slowly reforming into something new. The visual blends a single image with evolving square patterns, revealing pieces of it over time until the full shape comes into view. Minimal, introspective, and gently unfolding, it mirrors the idea of moving forward while everything quietly rearranges itself. I have added a new, temporary section to the website for Spören, my collaboration with accordionist Hans van der Maas.
The page offers a first impression of our live performance work, combining improvised sound, structure, and visuals around the theme of time. You can find the Spören section here. This section is temporary and may change or move later next year as the project develops further. Dream Changer takes place in a strange workroom where dreams are quietly adjusted and redirected. The track drifts between calm and tension — as if you are trying to get away from something, yet finding brief moments of clarity and light along the way. Are you in a hurry? It feels like you are running from something, but maybe that is okay. There are fragments of something good along the way — you just have to stop to notice them. The visual reflects different versions of this strange workroom, scattered across the world. A dim space filled with floating CRT televisions showing fragments of dreams. I chose old CRTs instead of modern screens — dreaming feels timeless, and the analog look fits that idea better. The first live performance with Spören will take place 🗓 November 2, 2025. Spören is a musical collaboration between Njordlyd (Carsten Faarvang – synths & electronics) and WAAS (Hans van der Maas – accordion & electronics).
🗓 November 2, 2025 | 13:00–14:00 📍 Varia Art & Expo, Filmzaal Offers, Loosduinse Hoofdstraat 315With limited seating (25), please reserve by email: About the performance Time. Time does not exist. We are ruled by the clock — go here, be there, an appointment, a meeting, always moving forward. But philosophers say that inner time is the real time. Yet, there is almost no space left for it. Hurry up! Lean back and immerse yourself in the warm tones and deep drones of acoustic accordion, synthesizers, and other sound tools. Supported by visual animations by Njordlyd, Spören brings to life our vision of the phenomenon of Time. The official visual for "From Here to There" is now available on my YouTube channel. From Here to There is about movement and transition — through life, thoughts, emotions, and creative flow. It captures the feeling of being in-between moments, of navigating the space between one state and another, where nothing is fixed and everything shifts gradually. The track feels like a bumpy road journey: there’s always something to notice, obstacles to navigate, and moments that leave an impression. Motion and rhythm carry you forward, and each twist or turn affects your perception as the journey unfolds. It’s a track that moves, drifts, and evolves organically. The visual for this track is fairly minimal, featuring a small selection of transmission masts 📡 shown in my usual abstract and slightly quirky style. 10 years ago, on 2nd September 2015, I released the EP Silent Echoes, my first music ever as Njordlyd 🎶.
What started as two tracks – Towards the Night and Hidden Moments – has since become the foundation of everything I’ve created and continues to shape my creative path to this day. Silent Echoes explored ambient and downtempo soundscapes, weaving textures, rhythmic elements, and layered atmospheres. It was my first step into shaping sound as a form of storytelling, using music to evoke feeling, reflection, and imagination, while sharing my own creative ideas and trail of thoughts. Looking back, it feels surreal to realize that 10 years have passed. Since then, my music has evolved, expanded, and taken me through countless experiments, singles, albums, EPs, and live performances. Later this year, Silent Echoes will return in a remastered edition, including a few unreleased versions from the original recording sessions. #njordlyd #SilentEchoes |
